LocaleNotes was developed according to the principle of Privacy by Design. The app stores all notes, photos, and location data exclusively locally on your device. There are no user accounts, no server connections, and no cloud synchronization.
The app asks for your permission to access your device's location. The location is used exclusively to pin a new note at your current location and display notes on the map. Location data is never transmitted and does not leave your device.
You can restrict or revoke location access at any time under Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → LocaleNotes.
The app asks for your permission to access your camera and photo library. Photos are only stored locally within the respective note. No transmission takes place.
You can revoke access at any time under Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos / Camera → LocaleNotes.
If you use a device with Apple Intelligence and this feature is active, LocaleNotes may use Apple Intelligence features (e.g., automatic tagging). Processing takes place exclusively on the device by the operating system. LocaleNotes does not transfer any data to third parties for this.
The home screen widget displays notes from the app. The data used for this is exchanged exclusively locally between the app and the widget extension (App Group) and does not leave the device.
LocaleNotes does not collect any of the following data:
No personal data is shared with, sold to, or transmitted to third parties. The app does not communicate with external servers.
Since all data is stored exclusively locally, it is protected by the iOS operating system, including device encryption. We recommend securing your device with a passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID.
LocaleNotes is not specifically targeted at children under the age of 13. Since no personal data is collected, there is no special risk for children.
Since LocaleNotes does not collect or store personal data, rights of access, erasure, or rectification against us do not apply. You can delete all your notes directly in the app at any time. For questions, please contact the email address listed in section 1.
Should we update this policy, the new version will be published with the updated date in the app and the App Store. Material changes will be communicated separately.
The map view uses the native iOS map features (MapKit / Apple Maps). For the data protection practices of Apple Maps, the Apple Privacy Policy applies.
